Hello everyone and welcome to the very first Throwback Thursday, where every Thursday I’ll be posting about an old movie. When I say old I don’t mean like ancient black and white flicks, just any film I feel is noteworthy that is more than 10 years old.
So I thought I’d start us off with an old favourite of mine, Back to the Future and I think I’ll begin with a little film information before getting to my take.
Released back in 1985, starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, Back to the Future is a science fiction adventure film about a young fellow named Marty and his good friend Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown who invented a time machine out of a DeLorean car. After an incident between themselves and some Libyan terrorists, Marty accidentally sends himself back in time to 1955 and inadvertently disrupts the timeline by interfering with his parents first meeting. Now he must repair the timeline to ensure his own existence in the future and find a way to return home.
I first saw this film as a kid (pre-teens even) and although at the time the films plot was a little lost on me it captured my imagination and never let go, even after subsequent viewings of the film where I spotted a few mistakes. It’s just one of those films you can’t stop watching even when you’ve seen it countless times before.
Back to the Future and its sequels will always have a place in my movie collection, they may be a bit dated now but it’s a trilogy, in my opinion, that will stand the test of time.*
As always folks, if you’re feeling generous or just want to see the film, clicking the link in this post and purchasing off Amazon will earn me a little commission and help me to make content in the future so if you do decide to buy you have my thanks and appreciation.
